Crazy8Golfers started off in 2004 with Brian (bass, vocals), Gerry (guitar, vocals) and Neil H (guitar) trying to play The Small Faces' 'Lazy Sunday', although at that point we didn't have a name. Within a week or two Brian remembered that his brother, Frank, was a drummer so he then joined. We didn't spend long playing covers as Gerry and Neil had a bunch of songs they'd written together over the years and Brian introduced a couple he'd played with Swine, a punk band he'd played with years previously. Things progressed and a few months down the line our debut gig was organised. This proved to be too much for Neil H who didn't feel he could play live and he left the band two weeks before the gig was due. Brian, Gerry and Frank decided to go ahead anyway and played the gig in the Victoria Suite in Greenock on 3rd June 2005.
Soon after the gig they recruited Jon, an old school friend of Frank's, to replace Neil H and then concentrated on getting three of the songs ready for recording. This resulted in Anyday Saviour, Edge Of The Storm and Cloudbreaker being recorded with Graeme Sutherland at Greenock's Pleb Studios in October of 2005, a demo which they used to secure gigs in Greenock and Glasgow over the following year.
In September 2006 Jon left the band to concentrate on university (he studied at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama) and Brian's second child was born, which led to the band taking a hiatus for a few months. The search for a new guitarist led to Neil McC, a student from Inverness, joining.
